Kenya Tourism Requests Government to Assist with Airplane Charters
Travel May 29th. 2008, 10:27amFormer Kenya Tourist Board Chairman and CEO of the Alliance Group of Hotels, Mr Raymond Matiba wants the Government to encourage local investors to promote a local airplane charters industry.
"Investors who have money and are willing to inject funds into aviation should be assisted to invest fully in charter business as is the case in Egypt,’’ Matiba said. Numerous Egyptian firms have already invested in airplane charter operations to fly tourists from Europe to Egypt, he said. This is something that they want in Kenya.
The Kenya Association of Professional Holiday Representatives said right now there is a need for a local airplane charter industry because many local travel agencies have to look for charter flights that operate in European cities that would be willing to fly to Kenya. If Kenya had it’s own airplane charter operations tourism would increase significantly.
