Sports June 15th. 2008, 4:13amBurritt on the Mountain is one of Alabama’s most intriguing living history displays, but it offers much more than a lesson in 19th century farm life. The Mansion at Burritt is an attraction in itself. 19th century paintings and artwork as well as photographs and furniture are displayed in several themed exhibits throughout the Mansion. On the grounds surrounding the Mansion, visitors can explore historic buildings that depict different activities and aspects of regional farm life in the 1800s. Living history interpreters dressed in period-specific clothing demonstrate spinning, blacksmithing, cooking and other activities. The barnyard includes crops and farm animals typical of a 19th century farm. Extensive Nature Trails at Burritt on the Mountain are another attraction you won’t want to miss. You can see interesting natural and man-made historic sites during a hike along any of these trails. Josie’s’ on the Mountain is Burritt’s Gift Shop, and it is filled with a diverse assortment of gifts, collectibles and much more. The Shop features a Pet Boutique, a Bridal Gift area, and honey made on site at the farm.
