The Removalists is a play that was also adapted into a movie in 1975. It tells the story of a police officer who finds himself in a horrible mess. Sgt. Simmonds has never experienced enough action after 23 years on the force to even use his gun. An encounter with two women changes that literally in one night. One of the women claims physical abuse by her husband, so Sgt. Simmonds and his partner, Ross, come to her rescue. The woman wants to leave her husband, but he will not allow her to take the furniture. Simmonds and Ross tie up and beat the husband while the woman has the furniture removed. During the course of the evening, the husband dies.
