Searching for articles on fountains resulted not only to pictures but also some very interesting trivia. One of which is the information about the city of fountains. Kansas City’s history is reflected in a century of fountain development. First, fountains were established to fill the needs of people and animals and later as beautification, memorials, and celebrations.

Originally established by Kansas Citians Harold and Peggy Rice in 1973, The City of Fountains Foundation, working with the Parks and Recreation Department of Kansas City, dedicated its efforts to enhancing Kansas City and its surrounding areas by encouraging the establishment of fountains and their accompanying funds.
