Some people want a deck, but they don’t want the work of maintaining it. Instead of wood, they have a deck built out of composite decking, a combination of wood and plastic, or outright plastic lumber. I say it’s a better idea to choose building a real, wood deck and just do the work of coating it with deck stain every year, give or take. I wouldn’t exactly recommend either of the (expensive) decking alternatives that are plastic in part or in whole. They still have maintenance issues of their own, not to mention they look fake. On top of that, the plastic makes walking across the decks rather squeaky business.
