There are many advantages of portable diesel generators and the main advantage is that these are fuel efficient in comparison to gas-based gensets. With the rising fuel prices, less fuel is required for running a compact genset, which ultimately saves a lot of money.  Being handy, these DG sets can easily be transported anywhere and therefore are most suitable for fulfilling the power requirement for outdoor or offsite activities. The other advantage of portable diesel generators is the life of the equipment, which is high in comparison to other gensets based on other fuels. The maintenance cost of these equipments is also quite low in comparison to their counterparts, however the main disadvantage of the portable DG sets is that the fuel on burning produces lots of sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, particulate matters and therefore it is one of the major pollutant.
