A Trip To Bali

Travel No Comments »

A place that I am just dying to visit is Bali. I have heard so many great things about it, and about how beautiful it is over there. I have known a few people that have taken vacations to Bali in the past, and they highly recommended it to me. They told me about these gorgeous villas in Seminyak that they were able to stay in. They told me about the beautiful waterfalls and flowers. I am hoping that I will be able to save up enough money to take a trip over there soon. I will have to make my reservations.

Self Indulgence On a Budget

The reason I love hotels is because staying at them is usually my only shot a being pampered.

So, over the last few years, when things have seemed a bit overwhelming and I needed a break, I’ve booked vacations, both mini and to the max.

But I’m a careful shopper and search for the best deals on hotel-airfare combinations. I also book off season and, once in a while, take advantage of last-minute trips, to save money.

As a result, I’ve enjoyed being lazy and waited on in Paris, Madrid, and London hotels during the last five years.

And I would highly recommend that you do the same, the first chance you get.

My Love Life

I’m thinking about giving online dating a shot. I’m always seeing commercials for those online dating sites (i.e. Chemistry, E Harmony) constantly appearing on my 30 inch TV set. Now, I’m not lonely by any means, but I am a sucker for "female companionship". Depending upon where my future mate (or mates) reside, I will probably have to make a bunch of travel agency (Better Business Bureau approved) arranged inexpensive vacations in order to meet them in person and see if the first love at first sight thing happens and simultaneously not break my wallet.

Food fight

In 1955 we drove through upper New York State during the month of August and watched them pick tomatoes for as far as we could see. As the trucks would dive down the highway some of the tomatoes would fall off and my brother and I picked them up and got into a tomato throwing fight. Now I read that when I book my reservations in the hotels in Spain I can actually make arraignments to be in a tomato throwing fight as an adult. I am not sure of all of the details at this point but know that it takes place in the city of Bunol

A unique anniversary celebration

Travel No Comments »

We were planning a small celebration for our anniversary, and wanted to invite our closest friends to share the fun. Where else than Bali Villas? Locations are magnificent and varied, and the accommodations beyond compare. We went to one where there were 9 building structures, one just for the 7 domestic staff that helped to accommodate our needs. A chef on-site was an added plus. The beaches were near, but with our own private swimming pool and jacuzzi and luxurious deck, it was sometimes difficult to leave the compound to explore the area. It was the best party we ever had.

Some Chicago cheap hotels are nicer then others

Travel No Comments »

I learned this lesson the hard way… Some Chicago cheap hotels are nicer then others, that is for sure. I just took the cheapest online rate that I could find and I got what I paid for. Had I read some of the online reviews I would have been well informed and found out the hotel had no internet service and that was critical to my trip. I would have read some of the bad reviews and gone somewhere else. Alas, no I just arrived and managed to stay one night and moved to a more expensive and nicer hotel.

Missions & Forts

What do you do with a pair of junior high boys on a vacation to see their grandparents in Northern California? Well I had the great pleasure of hosting my two young grandsons for the summer and I happen to own a piece of Real Estate in Sonoma County that I do not get out to visit very much. We made a great run up to the property and on the way we visited the Catholic Missions that were home to so many Native Americans and we also visited a few of the military forts in the area. It was a great summer with a great purpose.

The fantasy comes true

We planned for our vacation for months, looking at all the Bali areas, what each offered with all the local historical sites, tourist areas with shopping opportunities, of course. And we saved for quite a while. But the hardest part was to get one of the bali villas that was pretty luxurious while not breaking the bank. We went to www.balivillas.com and were able to choose a
site that offered all we dreamed of at a price we could afford . We found a place that had ceiling fans, and the gentle breezes kept the area cool meeting all our fantasy dreams.

International Health Insurance

When looking for affordable health insurance coverage outside of the United States, it is best to go to a company that has a long history and experience in world wide travel. If you are planning to remain in a country other than the one you are citizen of, having expatriot insurance is very important. This insurance generally falls in to four specific areas: 1) Personal Property, 2)Personal Liability, 3) Vehicle Insurance, and 4)Basic Medical and Dental. For an additional cost, insurance for travel specific to high risk regions of the world can be purchased. Policies are based on the amount of time you will be staying in a particular location. International policies generally cost less than what you would have to pay for a similar policy within the United States. This is due to the fact that medical care in the United States is the most expensive in the world.

My Vacation to Venice

Finally! One month is all I have to wait until my vacation to Venice. I feel as though I’ve been planning this trip forever. Now that my trip is here, I feel like I can jump up and down. I am beyond excited to take this trip to Venice. Some of my coworkers think that I’m starting to lose my mind. But, that’s quite the contrary. My head feels more clear the closer I get to departure. I’ve double-checked everything. Purchased plane tickets

Bright Lights, Foreign Cities

I love to travel. I love airports and new places. I even love packing, if you can imagine.

What I don’t love is the dent in my budget after I buy an airline ticket. And don’t get me started on the cost of hotels and rental cars.

But I’m very determined and, over the years, have found that bargain shopping can save me a bundle.

I especially love the convenience of using a site like Travelocity.com to book flights, hotels, and reserve cars. As a bonus, it’s possible to find discount coupons and package deals which can make traveling a lot more do-able.

My budget and the economy may have slowed me down, but I still plan to keep traveling. There are a lot of famous cities I still have to cross off my “must see” list.
