No hope for recycling festive waste

Business No Comments »

There are millions of emaciated Christmas trees, rotten turkeys and somewhere near a billion Christmas cards wending their way towards landfill sites every January, as Recycling campaigns all over the country come unstuck. The idea of planting a tree somewhere in your house is probably one of the strangest things a person can do and yet each year, Britons spend vast sums on plump Christmas trees with foliage to lend a bit of festive cheer to their homes. By the time New Year arrives in a haze of smoke and good cheer, the old tree has outstayed its welcome, spending days rotting by the roadside. The waste volume produced on Christmas Day hit record-breaking levels last December, councils are now afraid that their carefully laid plans have been scuppered by the thoughtless of residents. Recycle Now campaigners found that large numbers of people are unable to identify readily recyclable materials, these individuals also struggle to dispose of their waste in a sustainable manner.Waste watchdogs urge British families to think very carefully before putting recyclable materials in with the common trash. Wood and paper-based products such as cards, wrapping paper, and trees should be placed in your green bin or box, or transported manually to a recycling centre.

The home of our dreams… NOT

Business No Comments »

My husband and I almost purchased the home of our nightmares and not our dreams. We were trying to purchase a home that was part of an estate which meant dealing with four heirs who all had different opinions as to how much to sell the home for. The Realtor we were working with was not much help and just shrugged when the sellers would continually change their selling terms. The last straw was when we had the home inspected, it turns out that the basement pipes were covered in asbestos and yet the sellers were not willing to reduce the sales price to cover our cost of removing the toxin from the home. Needless to say we ran away from that real estate transaction and found another Castle Rock real estate agent and a much better house a few weeks later.

Marketing to the Small Business Owner is like Marketing to your Uncle

Business No Comments »

If you know your prospect, you will succeed. Retirees are becoming small business owners by the droves. The business trends are that aging entrepreneurs have rejoined the business world as small business owners. Marketing to the small business owner is easy, if you know who that small business owner is and where they came from in a business sense. Marketing to the small business owner must also take into account that as people age, they become more resistant to standard and widely used marketing techniques. Guess that is to say they become hardened? Or smarter? Either way, using your personality, integrity and knowledge are crucial when marketing to the small business owner. Remember, they were in the trenches and will respect you if you are honest and hardworking. The small business owner is likely the one to make the purchasing decisions and is the one that you need to know….inside and out.

Take Care of What is Most Important

Business No Comments »

If it’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that Time Management is one of the most important things to do.  Especially when you have a job and a family to care for.  I remember when I was younger and how I could basically do anything I wanted and still feel like everything was in pretty good order.  Now as I have gotten older I realize the important of making sure I get things done in the most efficient way.  My wife has been great for me in that respect.  I cannot think of a more efficient person than her.  I love her so very much.

Work From Home and Beat The Recession

Business No Comments »

Right now, with the world locked in a pretty grim economic recession, it’s no surprise that a lot of people are interested in work from home opportunities. Many people - quite possibly the majority - are really concerned about their job security. It’s hardly surprising. Even before the recession bit many large multi-nationals were moving jobs to low labour cost countries. The idea of corporate loyalty and a job for life seem old fashioned and quaint now I guess. The trouble is that this is so widespread today. It’s not as if you can go to the next company down the street when your company is in trouble - it’s across the board right now.

Tattoos and cross cufflinks

Business No Comments »

One of the most popular way these days for self-expression and displaying one’s unique personality is by having tattoos. And it’s not only among men that this practice is popular, as more and more women are sporting tats. Most people have one or two tattoos in either in a conspicuous or hidden area, but there are people who have most of their skin tattooed. Now how’s that for self-expression?

A very popular theme in tattoos are cross designs. Normally, tribal-inspired crosses are intertwined with other images to form really unique designs that are quite attractive. But if self-mutilation isn’t your ‘thang’, you can be just as cool by sporting tribal cross cufflinkss which are also quite well-liked. And this option really doesn’t hurt!

How Secure are Online Payment Gateways?

Business No Comments »

Online payment gateways are virtual terminals used by any merchant account to allow credit card processing on a website. As soon as a customer inputs his credit card details like the number and name on the card, these gateways will take hold of this information, encrypt it and transmit it to a credit card processor for verification.

Some people are hesitant of this process because they fear that there might be a breach in security. How secure are online payment gateways, anyway?

SSL connection

SSL is short for Secure Socket Connection. It transmits private information over the internet and encrypts data to avoid unauthorized users to gain access to it. Online payment gateways provide this component to make sure that the payment process is safe and secure.

Charge back

Online establishments that accept credit cards offer charge backs to customers should any discrepancy arise from a transaction. They will be given the exact amount they paid if service or product was not received, damaged or dissatisfactory to the customer.

24/7 Support

Online payment gateway facilities provide customer support via phone or email. If customers encounter problems before, during or after a purchase, they can rely on their customer support to help them any time.

Purchasing items from online establishments that have merchant accounts is completely safe and has gained more popularity in recent years. With the information provided above, there should be no reason to stop anyone from shopping on the net.

Living the Great Life in Seattle, Washington

My husband and I live a great life on five acres in the Seattle area.  When we saw that mortgage interests rates were dropping we decided to take advantage of this situation and refinance our home.  While we were at it we decided to get a little cash out to pay some medical bills off so we could get those out of our monthly budget and free up some money for other things.  We got expert help to search for seattle mortgage companies and got a great rate and much lower payment.   I am thankful that we have been so blessed in our lives.

My Electric Got Shut Off So I Borrowed a Cheap Payday Loan

Business No Comments »

One day while I was at work, my son called and told me the electricity had been shut off and the guy had left a note on the door.  In my excitement about my upcoming vacation, I had forgotten to pay a couple of bills.  So I borrowed a cheap payday loan and paid to have the electricity turned back on.  When I got paid the following week, I just paid the loan back with interest.  Thank goodness these loan companies exist or I would have had to wait another six days to get the electricity turned back on.  That would have been embarrassing.

Business No Comments »

When I decided to start playing with investing in the Forex trading venue my husband laughed at me.  He actually laughed at me.  I told him I was only giving it a shot to see if I could make a little money with the spare money I had lying around the house.  After a few months he stopped laughing.  I said have you ever seen such forex profits?  He had no answer and slithered off into the den to watch TV.  After all was said and done I had tripled my original investments and they are still growing.  I turned my little Forex hobby into full time profits that my husband cannot deny.
